Hello! My name is Chad. This blog is a journal of me playing with my two hobbies. I am an avid ham radio operator and have been for almost 40 years. My passion is with amateur radio satellites and EME. I believe in promoting the hobby to help people young and old learn new things that they thought were not possible. Hence the name for this blog... "Amateur Radio Above The Horizon". My nerd cave is always changing. This is the most recent image of it.
My other interest? Volkswagens! Specifically old air cooled VW's. Over my lifetime I have owned 17 VW's. I took a hiatus in 2001 from VW's to start our photography business. In 2024 my oldest grand daughter convinced grandma and I to get back in the VW game. The issue is VW's are an obsession for me. Almost to the addiction point. I remember telling her a year ago, "If you drag me back down this rabbit hole, I am not ever coming back out of it! Welp here we are. Becky and I are the proud owners of a 1971 VW Super Beetle!
