I am approaching retirement, or at least partly. I cant sit still. It is pretty rare that i sit and watch a movie at home. It seems I have to always be doing something with my hands. For the past 20 some years I have not had a garage that could hold more than a ford fusion. it sucked. So when we built our forever home, I was blessed to be able to add a garage that I could use as an all purpose workshop. The garage was pretty much done until our eldest granddaughter convinced me that I need another VW after a 20 year hiatus. This wont be a one car kind of thing. I can sense there will be others to follow. For years I have wanted to build a “stroker” kind of motor. Well if I am going to do that, I need a decent work space right? Something that is designed for engine work.
Before I start working on the 71 Super Beetle, I wanted this space done. So when the time comes to start working on it, I can just dig in and wrench. Well this is it. There are a few things left like additional lighting and getting the engine stand. I am thrilled with this space. It has taken a lot of time and money, but the result is so well worth it.
The plan is to pull the engine out in December and go through it. Stay tuned…
